  • What happens if my hearing aids stop working?
Come in, or make an appointment, for a free evaluation of your hearing aid. 90% of the time, it is obstruction, such as ear wax, blocking the sound. We will always clean your hearing aid free of charge. We can also give you directions on wax removal and cleaning techniques. If your hearing aid needs further repair you can leave it with us to be repaired in our on-site lab!
  • What happens if I just can’t wear them?
Make an appointment so we can check the physical fit of the hearing aid. We will make alterations in the design, model and style, to ensure comfort. Custom improvements will be made to better match your hearing aids with your lifestyle. The FDA allows all wearers 30 days to determine if they are satisfied with their hearing aids. However, we are proud to offer our customers an additional safety net. To ensure you are properly satisfied, we give you an exclusive "6 Month Satisfaction Guarantee". During this period you can exchange your hearing aid for a different style or model, free of charge. This ensures you have time to become acclimated with your ability to hear clearly again and receive proper adjustments. Digital hearing aids are programmed with custom hearing settings. These settting can be adjusted, any time, at no cost to you. For some, the adjustment period may be easier than others. Time, honesty, sensitivity, action and follow-up care all play an important role in forming a strong patient-specialist relationship. We recommend keeping a hearing journal during this time so you can quickly address your concerns and we can make the proper adjustments.
  • What happens if my hearing changes?
There is no charge to retest your hearing and it can be retested as often as needed. If your hearing changes, your sound prescription may be slightly modified. We will make the proper sound adjustments to your hearing aids free of charge.
  • How much do hearing aids cost?
In general, the level of technology determines the price of the hearing aids. They can cost anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. The more technologically advanced, the more expensive. Fortunately, having our own lab on-site, enables us to drastically reduce hearing aid prices.
  • Does insurance cover the cost of hearing aids?
We are happy to take your insurance information and contact your insurance company to determine what, if any, benefits you have.
  • How do I know which hearing aid to choose?
Our licensed provider looks inside your ears and tests your hearing to evaluate sensitivity with tones and responses to speech. After this evaluation we can go over the options that are best suited to your hearing needs and decide the best hearing aids for your lifestyle and hearing sensitivity.
  • Why should I bring my spouse (or other family member or friend) with me?
We pride ourselves on giving the best hearing evaluations possible. Statistics show that the presence of a voice you are familiar with during the exam helps to ensure the most accurate analysis of your ability to hear.
  • What is a digital hearing aid?
Digital technology has revolutionized the way hearing aids process sound. With digital hearing aid technology, listening comfort and speech clarity can simultaneously be provided with an automated volume control. All Digital hearing Aids are programmable, which means that a computer is used to set the devices specifically to an individual. Not all programmable hearing aids are completely digital. Generally speaking, digital hearing aids are the most sophisticated amplifying devices, which means they are typically the most expensive.
  • What is the process for getting a hearing aid?
The first step is getting an exam to determine the extent and type of hearing loss you have. We will explain the test findings in detail and determine if you are a candidate for hearing aids. If you are, we will recommend what type of amplification would be appropriate for your hearing loss. Once you have picked out a device, we’ll make impressions of your ears and order your hearing aids.
  • Do you repair hearing aids?
Yes. Our on-site lab enables us to repair Harris Hearing Aids for up to 70% less than national lab repair prices. Our staff will check your hearing aid to determine the problem. One of our trained repair technicians will make the repair. Sometimes the replacement part is covered by your warranty.
  • What if I don’t like my hearing aid? Does your office offer a trial period?
The FDA allows all wearers 30 days to determine if they are satisfied with their hearing aids. However, we are proud to offer our customers an additional safety net. To ensure you are properly satisfied, we give you an exclusive "6 Month Satisfaction Guarantee". During this period you can exchange your hearing aid for a different style or model, free of charge. This ensures you have time to become acclimated with your ability to hear clearly again and receive proper adjustments.
  • Do hearing aids use batteries?
Yes. We have many batter options available for sale in our office. The most common size of battery, size 10, lasts 4-7 days. We sell them for $7.00 per pack of 8 batteries. Batteries are also available, online, and at most convenience stores. It is important to make sure the batteries are fresh and have not been sitting on the self for too long.
